Teen Vaping at its Highest in Colorado – Find Out Why
According to the Centres for Disease Control, Colorado youth vape twice as much compared to the national average. This is the highest among 37 states surveyed for this purpose. Vaping has grown to be the latest fancy and many are choosing it over smoking. Though more than 90 tested products have shown nicotine, its popularity has not reduced a dime. As per the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, this has an effect on youth to leave them with “lasting cognitive and behavioral impairments, including effects on working memory and attention.”
Vape products also have other heinous toxins. These may be carbonaceous elements or toxic substances that run deep into the system. Most of these are persistent elements and create long-lasting havoc in the system. The flavors and vapors may seem interesting but the harm caused due to it is unbelievably large.
Possible Effects of Vaping in Teens:
- Cancer
- Lung diseases
- Bad breath
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- A headache
Why is Colorado the US State with Maximum Teen Vaping?
- A proliferation of vapes as premier companies have set up shop there
- Considered more cool and fashionable for teens
- Teens do not consider it to be a harmful thing to do
- Cheaper when compared to cigarettes
- Lack of awareness about its effects
This has led to the proposal of a national campaign called “Tobacco 21”. The aim of the campaign is to make and raise the minimum legal age for sales of nicotine and tobacco. The people involved in the campaign believe that the concern for teenage vaping is real and more so for Juuls. They are now actively working in Colorado to reduce the sales of vapes and prevent underage teen vaping.
